I have my Vantage Pro connected to my computer over the Ethernet, using a Lantronix UDS100. I configured it exactly as described in the manual for the Lantronix MSS100 device. The good news is that the UDS is much cheaper, and seems to work great.
FYI, one site I looked at lists the MSS100 for $242, the UDS100 for $158, the UDS10 (exactly the same device, but 10MB while the UDS100 is 100MB) for $130. There's also a brand new device, the UDS1100, which is their newer model that's 10/100 and about $110, but I haven't tried one. Should work fine though, i would guess.
BTW, to connect the UDS100 to my Vantage Pro, I needed a 9-25 pin converter and a null modem, which cost about $15 altogether from my local Radio Shack.
I hope somebody finds this useful. |
