A simple question (hopefully).

I aven't been able to find any documentation about whether you can change the default name of the MySQL database that I want wview to use. My remote hosting provider (ie. the one with all the unlimited space for me to use Smile ) forces me to use a prefix before my database name.

Can I specify a database name with wview?

Short answer is no. It assumes the database name is "wviewDB". It does allow specifying alternate table names, but my assumption was users would have the ability to create their database as outlined in the User Manual.

Sorry Sad

PS: If you want to hack the source code, it is in common/dbdatabase.c where the database is opened - look for the "raddatabaseOpen" call.

bummer.

well, I'd like to officially log a feature request then. Smile

I love my web provider... unlimited space is great... but they are stupid with the whole db naming thing... they also require any ftp accounts that are created by a user to have the username: user@mydomain.com which totally screws up ftp programs (and wview.. for that matter, but it's not your fault Smile )

thanks anyway!

Your request is now in wview 1.8.4 - probably should join the mailing list so you get the release notices...
