My station is a Vantage Pro 2 with an added solar radiation sensor so I can get evapotranspiration readings. I also have a Leaf and Soil Moisture/Temperature Station reporting to my console. I have wanted a weather station since I was a child. The primary reason that I finally put one up is so that I can have accurate weather readings for my garden. I live on the slope of a mountain valley and temperatures can vary greatly in the area. I wanted my station attached to a computer so the data could be logged automatically. I wanted my station on the web so that I can monitor the temp in my hobby greenhouse while I am at work (and of course the cool factor). I chose wview because I wanted an open source solution and after considerable time researching the subject concluded it was the best solution. I have 4 temp sensors installed on the Soil Moisture/Temperature Station. One of the sensors is for greenhouse air temp, one is for the soil temp on the seed starting heat mat, one is for the temp of the water mass in the greenhouse and one is for the garden soil temp. I plan to install a soil mosture sensor along with the garden soil temp sensor.

I am running wview on a 350 mhz Pentium III computer with 768 meg of RAM. I am running Fedora Core on this machne with Apache 2. This computer is also serving as a gallery server for about 15 photo galleries in multiple domains for family and friends. This old slow machine handles the load very well.

I have made an effort to let the people in my extended neighborhood know that my weather station is on the web and the data is available for them to see. I have received many thanks and compliments on the site. It has become a great community resource.
