I examined the archived records after I copied the *.wlk file to my WeatherLink WINE setup. I browsed the records and see a normal day's worth of record entries, ie , 1am, 2am, 3am etc. Near as I can tell everything is OK. My VP1 console was setup to do the DST thing automatically. |

What do you mean by that? If you mean you set it to be enabled on the VP console, well, wview (as of 1.8.2) resets it to be disabled and to use GMT offset instead of time zone strings. So the VP console is at the mercy of the wview time and GMT offset synchronizations. This makes the most sense to me and apparently worked out in the archive file based on your report.
That's good, since the WLK files are very difficult to fix once corrupted. Most folks don't bounce back to weatherlink to edit archive records.
Now to fix the runtime history data and deal with the VP's nice way of saying a new archive record is available even when it is not (1 AM to 2 AM after the time has been reset - it already has records for 1 AM to 2 AM...)
I have fixed the archive notification being generated even though no new archive record was stored... This not only hosed up the runtime historical data (not archive records), but also caused excessive CWOP and Wunderground submissions.
Now to look at the logic when DST change is detected to allow the "adjkerntz" cron job to run before re-syncing the time on the VP console (or calling it directly in wview).
I am curious about the linux approach though - my FC4 PC does not use any adjkerntz utility - it appears to be a FreeBSD (read BSD unix) thing. I wonder how/when linux does the time zone adjustment when DST changes occur so that the GMT offset reported is corrected... |

I had the utmost confidence in Wview in doing the right thing at DST switchover . Is there anything you'd like to see in my logs that might show you when Linux switch the DST ? |

No, I think I have a handle on it now.
I have the enhancements/bug fixes done and am testing them (as best I can) now.
Thanks for checking your archive records... |
