I've successfully installed version 1.8.1 on FC-3 and everything seems to be working fine. However, I am not able to get wview to read my old archive files (WLK files). I've moved the last two and a half years of .wlk files into the /var/wview/archive directory, but all I get is the last two and a half months - I assume that this data is being retrieved from the console. The archive interval on the VP console is set to 30 mins. The last 365 days graphs are populated so I think this means that those files are being read but when I look for the NOAA...TXT files, I only see the last 3 months. What can I be doing wrong??

Thanks for your help. I love being able to run this on my linux server instead of depending on the buggy weatherlink software. Thanks for creating wview.

Pat

Glad you like it!

First you need to upgrade to 1.8.2 as it has better support for the DST change this weekend...

If your last 365 days are populated (and look correct), then your old archive files are being read. NOAA should pick them up too... hmmm... did you change the archive interval when you moved to wview? Whatever archive interval your old files were collected at is what you want to use now if you want to use that old data.

wview logs a good bit of information when it starts up and also while running (unless you turn verbosity off), so you probably should post the wview-related parts of your /var/log/messages file, especially the startup logs. Maybe that will tell us something. Be sure to keep a backup copy of your old archive files somewhere other than /var/wview/archive.

You could also post a listing (ls -al) of your destination directory - where wview generates all of your files so we can look more closely at the NOAA files in there...

Thank you for such a fast reply. I have not changed the archive interval on the console and did not run the vpconfig, so that should be the same. (I reconnected weatherlink and veriffied my original console settings are still in place). I will upgrade to 1.8.2 shortly and then report back with a dump of the log file. Thanks.

BTW, it looks like you have set your generation interval to be 30 minutes too... I would set it to something like 5 minutes, this way it keeps your current conditions table pretty up-to-date even if your charts are only updated every 30 minutes...

Just a thought.

Thanks for the suggestion. I mis-understood the instructions for "Archive Interval", thinking that "GENERATE_INTERVAL" had to be set to the consoles archive interval in order for the NOAA reports to be generated. I see now that I miss-read this.

I've downloaded the new version and will read the instructions on how to upgrade without losing all my setup. I've had to change the FTP utils file in order to upload my data to my external web host so will have to keep this change in the new version. I hope to have 1.8.2 up tomorrow night and will post back with my results.

Thanks for the support.

Good Evening everyone. Here is my startup log as requested. It looks like the archive files are being read since 1001 dailt reports are created. But I can't seem to get the NOAA files to generate.
